University of Science & Tech. of China

Hefei city, Anhui Province

         Location of Hefei Prefecture within Anhui    Downtown Hefei's Sipailou business district

Hefei  is a prefecture-level city and the provincial capital of Anhui province, China. Located in central Anhui, it borders Huainan to the north, Chuzhou to the northeast, Chaohu to the southeast and Lu'an to the west.

Brief Introduction of USTC

The University of Science and Technology of China is a new type of university established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) after the founding of the New China. The establishment of the University is aimed at fostering high-level personnel of science and technology absolutely necessary for the development of the national economy, national defense construction, and education in science and technology. The University was founded in Beijing in September of 1958. Mr. Guo Moruo is the first president of the University. The establishment was hailed as "A Major Event in the History of Chinese Education and Science". CAS has supported the University by combining most of its Institutes with the departments of the University. CAS has pooled the entire strength of its faculty and its advantage in science and technology for the development of the University. USTC is listed in the top 16 national key universities by the Central Committee of the CCP, becoming the youngest national key university.

English Teachers Number required:  2 Posts


Contract Period: 20 February 2009 to 30 January 2010


Requirements:   BA and TESOL /TEFL.  Some teaching experience preferred


Monthly Salary:   5,000 RMB


Teaching hours:  16 classes per week


Age of students: university students

 

Travel allowance: 3,000RMB per school term. 6,000 RMB per school year.


Accommodation:  a free private furnished apartment on the university campus. Close to downtown area.

 

Internet access (Free): internet access (broadband) in the apartment


Medical Insurance:  The school will provide free medical service at the school clinic. Teachers will be covered with an accident to a maximum compensation of RMB50,000.  Therefore, teachers are advised to take adequate insurance cover before leaving their own country.

 

Paid Holiday

Two days off per week. New Year in January (1) day; Chinese New Year in January/February (3) days; Qing Ming Festival in April (1) day; Labor Day in May (1) day; Mid-autumn Festival in August (1) day; **National Day in October (3) day; Winter holiday 20 days.

               *The common practice in China for golden week holiday in October is such that the employee will have 7 consecutive days off.  (3 days paid holiday, 2 weekend days, 2 extra days to be compensated for by employee working on weekends either before or after the golden week). 

Work permit : The school will provide work permit for China at no cost to the teacher.

 

Air-ticket Reimbursement:

On completion of a school year contract, a round way air-ticket reimbursement will be made. The teacher also can choose to get the cash as the air-ticket reimbursement up to 70% of the air-ticket.
