Zhuhai
(http://www.zhuhai.gov.cn) is a lovely coastal city located in the southern
Chinese province of Guangdong, sharing a common border with the former
Portuguese enclave of Macau and just a one hour turbo-ferry ride from
cosmopolitan Hong Kong. From its humble beginnings as a fishing village,
from 1981 Zhuhai began a meteoric transformation
into the awesomely beautiful tourist destination it has become today, thanks
to the efforts and for reaching vision of the late paramount leader of China
Deng Xiao Ping, who bequeathed upon Zhuhai the
status S.E.Z or Special Economic Zone. The influx of capital, goods and
labor made possible by the "open-door policy" has given
Zhuhai a current population of approximately 700,000 people. Recent
construction efforts have resulted in a vast network of modern roads, new
garden parks, and increased beautification of this already sensuous
sub-tropical city.
As a special economic zone, Zhuhai is a place
where most of the population is from other provinces in China.
Mandarin is a common language although Cantonese is widely spoken.
Zhuhan
City is well known for its beauty and cleanliness.
Half of the city is surrounded by sea with abundant supply of seafood.
Tropical fruits are also plentiful.
The climate is generally tropical with a short winter.
